PERFORMANCE INCREASE
Vasper worked with San Jose Sharks Strength and Conditioning Coach Mike Potenza to work with the 131st ParaRescue Squadron to assess hormone levels and performance results. ParaRescuemen are elite military operators, who specialize in medical rescue in war zones and remote areas. And our hormone investigation didn’t stop there. Testosterone is a key hormone that is involved in regulating muscle growth, bone density, fat metabolism, and mood in both men and women. We explored this hormone with five professional baseball players in 8 Vasper sessions over 2 weeks. 80% saw an increase in free testosterone levels, with an average increase of 132% across all participants.
SAFETY assessment
In this study, we took 20 healthy participants to assess the safety of Vasper on the cardiovascular system. We compared heart rates and blood pressure values in 7 sessions with different leg pressures applied, ranging from 0 mmHg to 85 mmHg.
There was no significant difference in heart rate or blood pressure when comparing a session without Vasper’s cooling cuffs to a session with the cuffs at our allowed range of pressure (0-80mmHg). The study can be read in full here in the Journal of Exercise Physiology.

In this Pilot Trial, Vasper investigated the hormone response from 10-20 Vasper sessions over 4-6 weeks.
This pilot study was designed after feedback from our clients, who reported anecdotally that Vasper had a unique ability to heighten certain beneficial hormones while having the opposite response in other stress hormones. Our study with Veterans revealed that people were experiencing a better quality sleep as a result of using Vasper. Our pilot study suggests that one reason for this better quality of sleep could be the observed effect of reduced night-time cortisol.
IMPROVED SLEEP QUALITY
A pilot trial was conducted to determine the potential effects of the Vasper exercise system on markers of physical and emotional function in an ample of 14 US armed forces veterans from the Warrior Evolved Veteran Rehabilitation Facility in Colorado Springs. Participants completed 24 Vasper sessions over a 6-week trial period. Sleep quality was measured pre-and post-trial using the Pittsburg Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) questionnaire. At post-evaluation 71% of participants reported a better score of the PSQI, indicating a significant improvement in sleep quality at the end of the trial period.
Subjective perception of energy and fatigue was also measured pre-and post-trial using the SF-36 quality of life questionnaire. 71% (n=10) of participants reported higher levels of energy following the trial period.

BLOOD SUGAR MANAGEMENT
In this pilot study, Vasper was shown to be an effective way to manage A1C levels. Twenty-one men and women agreed to at least two Vasper workouts per week for 3 months. The participants’ blood sugar was analyzed before they began the Vasper workout regimen and then again after. In addition to their blood sugar, most participants managed to lose weight in the process.
One explanation for this decrease in blood sugar levels is the fact that Vasper can increase GLUT4 receptors, sugar channels, in the muscle, which regulate blood sugar levels without the need for insulin. As a result, many of the participants in the study had to reduce their required insulin dosage.

The midpoint results of this study on Post-Concussive Syndrome rehabilitation shows that in 6 weeks of 2x Vasper sessions/week with physical therapy, the Vasper group showed statistically significant improvements over the control group, which just did physical therapy.
Not only did the Vasper group demonstrate significantly improved quality of life at the end of the study, they also showed improvements in the follow-up period, when they weren’t doing Vasper or physical therapy for six weeks. The Vasper group had a significantly more stable recovery and specifically significant more stability in emotional and sleep contributions after 6 weeks of no rehabilitation. Symptom variability and stability of recovery is a particularly difficult issue in Post-Concussive Syndrome rehabilitation and this study demonstrates that Vasper is an effective way to address this.

IMPROVING STRENGTH AND BALANCE IN SENIORS
Twenty seven participants between the ages of 60 and 90 completed a 12-session fall prevention trial on the Vasper exercise system at the Kahala Nui Senior Living Home. A pre-and post-training evaluation was completed by a physical therapist and included test of knee extension strength, a Berg balance test, and a 10XSTS test.
Results demonstrate a 17% average improvement in balance, and average increases of knee extension strength by 11 pounds of force, and a 6 second average time improvement in the 10XSTS test. 63% of participants reported a subjective improvement in strength, while 53% reported an improvement in balance after the trial period.
